With the economic development of China the throngs of bicycles for which Beijing was famous for have slowly disappeared as more and more people are driving cars. During the years of 2005 to 2010 I started taking photographs of the utility bicycles used extensively in Beijing (in China) which after spending many years in China I have come to enjoy. The bicycles (mostly 3 wheelers) are more like pickup trucks and are used to haul people, goods and materials of all shapes and sizes. In fact, they are less and less like bicycles as they are now mostly gas or electrically powered. You can see that in many of the photo as the drivers feet are often not on the pedals.
I know a lot of the photographs in this album are not the best artistic photographs but in this case they are more of a historic record as I am sure these sights will soon be only a memory (in this case preserved at least in part through my photographs). Perhaps more so than any of my other albums I have made this one mostly for myself but I hope you enjoy it too.
